A Little about Tattered Inspirations

Tattered Inspirations is a little business which aims to provide products with a vintage heart to use in your crafts - be it scrapbooking, card making or other crafty pursuits.

The Tattered Inspirations shop is here
Tattered Inspirations

Markets - we will keep you informed as we have no idea when we will be able ot go to the Old Bus Depot due to their rennovations. once I know I will pop it here :)

The business is only tiny and is not in any way out to make lots of money but rather to offer products to compliment the usual supplies available by big companies.

The Design Team Rachel Walsh, Belinda Comerford, Kathy Marchant, Daniella Tassone and Suzie Lowe creatively use the products to show people what can be done - and I treasure their input and design work immensly.

Thank you for dropping by, we aim to encourage and inspire you to do something different out of your comfort zone, in new and exciting ways.

New Kit - Victoria's Glory Box

Remember when young women used to put things away for thwir glory box.... beautiful laces, tablecloths and sheets. Pots and pans and crockery?

Well here we are - from the time when women would wonder about the future and what it held....

This lovely vintage kit takes you back down memory lane when girls and young women purchased things for their glory box, hoping that they would meet their dashing Mr Right and they would use all the collection in their new home with their lovely new hsuband.

Young women everywhere had glory boxes, full of linen with lace edging, lace, kitchen essentials, doileys, sewing things, pots and pans.It was useful, romantic, thrifty, and very important especially with war around the corner for many brides to be.

This kit contains a wonderful collection of broiderie anglaise lace, handcrafted and dyed doiley, ribbon, fabric flowers, hat pins, buttons, cabochons and printed button card, adverts and thread cards from that era. Plus of course a couple of cute rings for good measure

All you need to add is your cardstock, photos and your title and journalling - how easy is that!! Perhaps a little lace? Perhaps glimmermist the background? The layout can be as simple or as complex as you wish.....

Many of the items are vintage and are listed below with a *

So what does this vintage kit contain?

1 x Hand crafted and dyed doiley*
1 x 35cm piece of tea dyed broidery anglaise lace
2 x Hand crafted flowers from beautiful fabric by Basic Grey in pinks and Greens (made by me)
4 x vintage buttons*
2 x cabochons (made by me)3cm rectangle and small heart
2 x hancrafted hat pins (by me) in beautiful muted tones
4 x prints of carded buttons*, sewing threads * and a couple of advertisements (1950)*
1x 8inch piece of vintage pink ribbon*
1 x pair of wedding rings
1 x 8 inch piece of hand beaded ribbon
1 x backing sheet

So your next heritage layout is almost done - all you need it is the photo!! This would also look fabulous as a feminine layout of any aged lady or girl...... even that lovely photo of you as a baby you always meant to scrap but never got around to it!

Having so much fun with these

Lots of love

Phils Birthday today... me I am creating!

Hi all
Lovely day today and lots of gorgeous sun and birds feeding outside at the bird feeders.

It is Phil's birthday today and he has had a quiet day - we didn't do much - I have created all day - made kits, and cabochons and generally created mess........ as normal when I create.

Victoria's Glory Box kit will be up tomorrow ... yeah

And I have done the fist kit for the design team once they are announced (called the Pink Flamingo.... if you thought that vintage was all about meek and mild, dainty and delicate - this will rock your perceptions - it is vintage and colourful and very usable)

You still have time to enter the design team competition - closing day 20th October ... email me for the newsletter which has all the details

Newsletter 'A Little Tattered' is going really well - and I have a lot of people who have subscribed - so thanks...... in the next edition I have a tutorial in there...... a must have for those who love vintage stuff! Next newsletter also has a giveaway on the back page.... so if you haven't subscribed now is a great time! Just email me - carol@cerebralsynergy.com

Exciting news in 4 weeks time - cannot wait - I am so looking forward to it and I cannot tell - I think it might be great that I go away for a couple of weeks in October because I might just burst if not!! Don't forget that while I am away my shop closes in Etsy for two weeks. With 35 sales I am doing well - so thanks for your support...... I always appreciate it and your feed back too

The other news is that I am awaiting some gorgeous things from overseas - vintage sari borders from India, jacquard brocade from Turkey, Fruit slices - for cabochons - from Thailand (I will be doing a cooking kit inspired by my Mum) and heaps of other stuff from America and China....... Love Etsy and Ebay - I am a great customer!!!! Lots to show you in the months ahead.

Lots of love

A beautiful day full of Spring

Well today I have had the day 'off'...... not really I guess but I had a great day enjoying the Spring sunshine and while I did lots of things - I certainly enjoyed a couple of hours at the beautiful Floriade in among the Spring bulbs and the delightful smells of hyacinths and jonquils.

Dad is in hospital and is doing okay - though gets very confused at night which is interesting (I had a phone call tonight and he is certainly is confused about a fair bit)

My parents are a bit like bookends and they worry about each other when they are together - let alone when they are apart...... making it not just a little challenging.

So I have been busy creating kits which will be certainly be up on Etsy in the next week or two. I am having lots of fun and tonight I hope to finally make cabochons ......

Happy Spring to everyone here in Aussie - and happy Autumn to my friends in America and the Northern hemisphere......

what a great weekend - now it is over!

I had a tops weekend and it was pretty sane too which helps
  • I firstly finished some kits ... a plus.....
  • Bought heaps of buttons online (nice vintage ones)
  • Filled my orders from Etsy (thanks all) and sent out my newsletter to more people
  • Tidied up my house, washed and set things straight
  • Put away the mess in the craft room and found places for Mums stuff from her house
  • Gave a gorgeous couple the painting I did for their wedding
  • Bought some gorgeous lace (yum)
  • Bought moo poo and fertilized the roses
  • Planted old seeds I have had in ages
  • Laughed at the antics of the cockatoos on the bird feeder!
  • Had Matt (DS) and Hai Pei around for dinner
Better go and find something to wear to work tomorrow
Life is great and I feel I have achieved lots!

Hope you have a lovely Monday tomorrow
With love to you all

How gorgeous is today.....?

What a gorgeous day today ... there is green grass from all the rain, the dams are almost at 75% (they were 44% last winter) and there are birds as I look out my window.... feeding on the grass are those little grey crested pigeons which are so sweet. They bob around and feed and then fly off - their wings in flight make a rustling noise.

Today is a day for cleaning..... not looking forward to that! I would rather be creating .... but it has to be done - Spring is here and it is time to open the windows and let the air (though it is a bit bracing) flow through the house at last. It has been a cold and long winter here in the mountains.

New Kits .... Two scrumptious ones
I wanted to show you a little peek at the two kits I have created for toddlers and babies .... traditional pink and blue.... but with that vintage twist. I am happy with them - and I have only made 6 of each to see what people think.... so if you like them - pop into Etsy!!

I must say I did have fun looking through those old advertisements in the 1950s and what they thought back then. Colds could be cured by 'Vicks', a six week 'Sustogen' course increased your energy levels and there was lots of importance placed on winter woolies, feeding your baby strained foods 'a knife and fork meal on a spoon' and not letting them be a 'Milk Sop' whatever that means!

So here they are:

Sugar and Spice

Little Boy Blue

I have really enjoyed making these kits .... especially the cabochons which are so cute and really are lots of fun to make!

There are more kits coming and a secret I cannot share yet - but watch this space - all will be revealed in 4 weeks time..... but I am very very excited!!!!!

Handcrafted Vintage Lace now arrived
I also received a huge package of beautiful hand crafted vintage lace pieces for my kits - they are simply gorgeous - so those who love shabby - have I now got lace!!!!! My goodness they are beautiful! Also I have things coming from China and Malaysia winging their way to me ...... what fun I will have with these little beauties!

Holidays in Oct - Etsy Shop Closes for 2 weeks!!

A Little Tattered - Newsletter - subscribe for September
Don't forget to subscribe to my newsletter - you will need to email me - I won't send it unless you ask me ...... there will be lots of goodies in there to look at, ideas and tutorials and links to sites I love.... plus news, offers, interviews and upcoming events etc.....

So subscribe to 'A Little Tattered' by emailing me your email address to iamhoneywine@gmail.com ........ next copy will be out by the end of Sept

Monet Inspired Blooms

Well I have been creating and these are my newest little ventre!

There are three packs in Etsy - and I have three more to load

When these gorgeous flowers started to come together I immediately thought of the painter Monet and his gorgeous waterlilles and delicate colours.

The purples, pinks, yellows, greens and blues

These little flowers (just over 2 inches wide) are hand dyed and then hand made from cream brodiere anglaise lace with an organza flower in the centre.

SO in a coordinating pack of three these little flowers will add pop to any layout and would look fantastic on a page..... but they would also lok lovely on a comb in your hair or grouped on a lapel.

Use then with my hat pins and a little lace for a gorgeous layout or card!

Inspired by Monet and creatively used by you..... perfect!

Making cabochons tonight!
Have a wonderful Monday!

Lots of loove
