A Little about Tattered Inspirations

Tattered Inspirations is a little business which aims to provide products with a vintage heart to use in your crafts - be it scrapbooking, card making or other crafty pursuits.

The Tattered Inspirations shop is here
Tattered Inspirations

Markets - we will keep you informed as we have no idea when we will be able ot go to the Old Bus Depot due to their rennovations. once I know I will pop it here :)

The business is only tiny and is not in any way out to make lots of money but rather to offer products to compliment the usual supplies available by big companies.

The Design Team Rachel Walsh, Belinda Comerford, Kathy Marchant, Daniella Tassone and Suzie Lowe creatively use the products to show people what can be done - and I treasure their input and design work immensly.

Thank you for dropping by, we aim to encourage and inspire you to do something different out of your comfort zone, in new and exciting ways.

What a wonderful weekend

Hi everyone

I am just back from an awesome retreat at LSBS (Little Scrapbook Shop) and what a weekend it was..........The awesome Cath and Nic treated us so well with kits to die for, gorgeous kits and lovely classes.... give aways too - and I won the layout prize for 17 LOs on the weekend..... special mention to Gill (Owl) though who definitely did more than me this time at 21!

I also chatted to many of the girls I have known now for years at the retreat and made new friends too ..... you are all lovely and so much a part of my life.

I was invited (well I actually volunteered) to teach a mixed media course at the retreat - and I did. 44 ladies created gorgeous fridge magnets and had a ball - many are going to try this again they loved it so much. I love the way people make their creations their own, they were all different and all lovely - so many people really loved them.....awesome work girls.

Here is my sample (now I can show you!!)

Her love has wings

Thanks to the other teachers too - Kerryn, Belle and Sherry for awesome classes too.... I had a lovely time!

I travelled to Berrima to my fave Antique Shop on the way there to the LSBS Retreat, with the lovely Kristin, and picked up gorgeous goodies for my vintage scrapping kits - so much stuff (buttons, mags, flannel, ribbon, braid, tickets....yummmmmm) and so much fun...... I cannot wait to create over the weeks ahead ..... and I have a stash now of gorgeous glimmermists to be extremely jealous of...... superb for antiquing flowers and laces

Several girls picked up my kits at the retreat from orders on the net..... they were delighted with them - and there were lots (and lots) of very positive comments. People also loved the packaging..... brown paper packaging tied up with string - and a heart! Reminds me of the old days.

The hat pins are definitely a hit too and many people wanted me to make more......

Thanks also to Scrap Therapy for taking 5 of my Hat Pin kits to try in the store at Babinda...... I will be interested to see how they go!

I have a day of work today to regroup and a short week - the sun is shining and I have watched the birds feed on the feeders outside my bedroom window at 10am - life is good.

Have a beautiful day everyone...

Grandma Ellen's Sewing Box - Vintage Kits

They are now up in Etsy and I am so pleased with them.... Already one has been sold - well it didn't even get up there actually..... it was ordered off the pic in the previous post!

Here are the better pics and an explanation.... I do hope you enjy them - Grandma Ellen's Sewing Box - Vintage Scrapbooking Kits

This lovely vintage kit takes you back down memory lane when things were a little slower and women like my Great Grandma Ellen spent time sewing for herself and her family.

This kit is in memory of my Great Grandma Ellen who, before she married my Great Grandfather, was a tailoress for Queen Victoria (probably my family's one claim to any sort of fame!)

This kit contains a wonderful collection of tea and hand dyed lace and hand crafted flowers of broidery anglaise lace, a hand crafted doiley, hat pins, buttons and printed button cards and keys from that era.

All you need to add is your cardstock, photos and your title and journalling - how easy is that!! Perhaps a little lace? Perhaps glimmermist the background? The layout can be as simple or as complex as you wish.....

Many of the items are vintage and are listed below with a *

So what does this vintage kit contain?

1 x Hand crafted and dyed doileys*
1 x 35cm piece of tea dyed broidery anglaise lace
2 x Hand crafted flowers tea dyed and then glimmermisted with handcrafted vintage doileys as their centres*
2 x vintage buttons a pink palain button and a gorgeous mother of pearl button*
1 x hand dyed sprinke flower*/shape*
2 x hancrafted hat pins (by me) in beautiful muted tones
4 x prints of carded buttons* and an advertisement*
1 x print of brass keys*
1 x brass 'sewing scissors' brass charm
1 x backing sheet

So your next heritage layout is almost done - all you need it is the photo!! This would also look fabulous as a feminine layout of any aged lady or girl...... even that lovely photo of you as a baby you always meant to scrap but never got around to it!

I am off to a retreat Thursday with a few packages of goodies because lots of people have ordered stuff.... thanks everyone! See you when I return!

Grandmas Ellens Sewing Box

I am being very naughty but I love these so much.... I had to share

That I have taken a quick scan to upload this - no DSLR, no setting up - and its in the celophane package.... I have made 8 of these for my store

My Greatgrandmother Ellen was Queen Victoria's Tailoress before she married my Great Grandfather.... so this vintage kit is named after her. It is very likely that Queen Vic had an entourage of tailoresses but it is my claim to fame..... so I am baskign a little in the glory with this kit.

I will pop them up on my Etsy Shop when I can take a decent pic and they are full of goodies including tea stained and dyed lace, very old buttons, some pics of old button cards and keys and handmade flowers - the kits are gorgeous and worth the wait I think!

Will load them into my Etsy shop as soon as I can..... they will be $7.50 US

I hope you enjoy and more (better) pics soon I promise

Love

PS - 4 out of my 7 vintage kits have sold already - that is pretty awesome I thinnk - thanks girls!!

PSS - And I have just ordered some gorgeous cameos for some more sets....... they are beautiful too!!

Uploaded so many photos today.....

I was not happy with my Etsy shop and the way some of my hat pins looked - so I uploaded many photos and I am happy with it now!!!

I was not happy with my Etsy shop and the way some of my hat pins looked - so I uploaded many photos and I am happy with it now!!!

These gorgeous hat pins are large and beautiful. Made on the largest pearl pin I can source, these are stunning, colourful and will enhance your craft projects such as scrpbooking, card making, or off the page projects.

They are also wearble art!

Wear them on a flower or a hat

Wear them as an accessory on a lapel

Tuck them behind a corsage

The Coronet Hat Pin measures 3 inches or 7.5cm.... they all contain a faux pearl head and large bead (either faux pearl or faceted plastic), a coronet of silver metal and glass faceted beads and multi faceted glass rondel bead with a small bead at the base

The look wonderful tucked under flowers on a scrapbook page and happily mix and match with eachother... I have shown a sample of a scrapbook page I did recently with these little beauties (please feel free to copy my page idea if you wish)

Orders are welcome and bridal orders a speciality for invitations, place settings, accessories and arrangements

At only $2.00 each they must be the buy of the month!

Onto cabochons....... now I have finished the photo thing!

Coming tomorrow

I have made 22 single Coronet Hat Pins - large, beautiful and delicious

I will load some onto my Etsy store ...... I have no photos as yet but they look great with a pearl hat pin (large), bead, coronet with stones, a large faceted glass bead and a small bead at the base.

These Coronet Hat Pins go with my sets too but are available singly at $2 US each and I am thinking that these will be very popular at that price

I have used all my glass faceted beads now (72!!) and have ordered 4 more lots because they are so beautiful!

So I will pop up photos tomorrow and I will also tell you a secret - tomorrow is cabochon making day...... wish me luck.......

They have arrived and I am excited

I know ... small things amuse me

But my cabachon moulds have finally arrived.... so I will be creating these lovely items for scrap pages

cab·o·chon
kab-uh-shon

1. a convex hemispherical or oval form, polished but not cut into facets.
2. an ornamental motif resembling this, either concave or convex and often surrounded by ornately carved leaf patterns, used on furniture of the 18th century.

Keep popping back - I will be creating with these soon!

Hat Pins for Creative Crafts

I have been trying to source hat pins for my own scrapping projects and card making and they have been very (very) elusive!

The ones that are available are totally boring - all the same, difficult to get and the same size.

So I made my own!!!!

Here is Yuletide Celebrations

They are available too on my Etsy if you want to look at more - and yes they do look very cool on layouts, cards, hats and lapels......

Another set - love these colours

I really enjoy making these - could be another addiction!!

And here are two pics of how they look on creative type crafts like scrapbooking and card making

The Card

Close up detail of a layout

So there you have it..... they are sweet and affordable - I hope you like them (I already have a say from California - pretty cool hey?)

I have quite a bit of vintage goodness appearing on my Etsy soon - so pop in now nad then to have a look
