A Little about Tattered Inspirations

Tattered Inspirations is a little business which aims to provide products with a vintage heart to use in your crafts - be it scrapbooking, card making or other crafty pursuits.

The Tattered Inspirations shop is here
Tattered Inspirations

Markets - we will keep you informed as we have no idea when we will be able ot go to the Old Bus Depot due to their rennovations. once I know I will pop it here :)

The business is only tiny and is not in any way out to make lots of money but rather to offer products to compliment the usual supplies available by big companies.

The Design Team Rachel Walsh, Belinda Comerford, Kathy Marchant, Daniella Tassone and Suzie Lowe creatively use the products to show people what can be done - and I treasure their input and design work immensly.

Thank you for dropping by, we aim to encourage and inspire you to do something different out of your comfort zone, in new and exciting ways.

For Claudia

This is a smallish canvas (31x41cm) for Claudia who is leaving from my work to a new position. We will miss her terribly but she is young and at the start of a very promising and varied career. It is hard to find this maturity in one so young.

So I did this yesterday as a farewell gift for her.

The words say 'Never lose sight of what you first set out to achieve'' this has always been true in my positions at work. It is the working out of the rest that gets in the way.

I have placed a few surprises in the piece, compasses for direction, a watch, a few butterflies for whimsy..... and a face (very similar to claudias, peeking out of the rock face).

Papers are mainly 'Basic Grey' and printed pages out of an old book. Lots of paint and texture. The gum trees have stems out of paper and the old 4 paint bubble wrap technique works well for these trees I think.

Thanks for looking

Cheers

two large pieces

I thought I would share these as they are something I haven't done before - these pieces are 60 x 90 cms and they are on canvas..... very large and loads of fun to do - my mind is actually spinning with possibilities of what I can do with other canvases - so I didn't sleep all that well last night - may be it was the possibilities! Oh and I have bought more canvases - does that surprise you???? I thought not!

This is called 'In flight' it is done with paper (Basic Grey for those who love the stuff) and others, acrylics, apasto, paints and lots of gel medium

Up close and personal with the Wedgetail Eagles - how great are they???
I love them in the Aussie bushland hovering above in the sky.

This is called 'The Journey' about the paths we go on
The writing says 'every journey starts with one small step'
Lots of text paper, patterned paper, images (nest and bird) bought off Etsy,
flowers, buttons, paint, apasto etc.....

I love this bird and I have it in heaps of colours and patterns
the nest is sweet too!

I think these flowers add the required zing

I made these for work as there were a few walls which needed lots of help -
we will see how they go - but everyone at work has been really expressive (in a positive way) and so that is really nice.....

Thanks for looking

5 creations for the Easter weekend

I have busily been creating over the past couple of weeks and have finally scanned these for this blog.....

My Mixed Media classes with Rebecca Vavic at CIT Canberra have finished but they have whetted my appetite for more to come.... I only hope I wasn't too much of a pain Rebecca in the class! If I was - sorry honey.....

I loved learning new techniques and want to do some big canvases very soon.... with words - love words on canvases.... and a fair bit of humour too...... can't take life too seriously .......

So here are a few of my creations.....

I love this piece it is about mothers and daughters and the unbreakable bond we have. I feel that with Jessica, she is forthright, delightful, and her own person. Yet at 27 the bond we have is very tangible and I hope will always be!!

Given to Margs Collection

I have to confess that I found this a bit difficult. Not the faces but more that I am not sure I really like this..... but I tried a few new things - crackle, beeswax finish and some shading (back to floating colour - and folk art painting days)..... I do like those wings.

Given to Jenni's Collection

Isn't this cute..... it says....
Love is a gentle touch when the world is too busy to take the time.
I thought these little elephants were so sweet

Given to Kerryn's Collection

I sort of like the irreverent humour in this - the dogs are from a card and I love the look on Biff's face as he sees an angel. I just thought it was a funny take!

This was rather fun - I am loving using my scrapping supplies to create onto mixed media pieces... they blend so well together.

I hope you enjoy them and I look forward to you visiting here and commenting....... I will be popping in to other blogs too...... I love seeing what people are creating, in this world of mixed media.

Love
Carol
