A Little about Tattered Inspirations

Tattered Inspirations is a little business which aims to provide products with a vintage heart to use in your crafts - be it scrapbooking, card making or other crafty pursuits.

The Tattered Inspirations shop is here
Tattered Inspirations

Markets - we will keep you informed as we have no idea when we will be able ot go to the Old Bus Depot due to their rennovations. once I know I will pop it here :)

The business is only tiny and is not in any way out to make lots of money but rather to offer products to compliment the usual supplies available by big companies.

The Design Team Rachel Walsh, Belinda Comerford, Kathy Marchant, Daniella Tassone and Suzie Lowe creatively use the products to show people what can be done - and I treasure their input and design work immensly.

Thank you for dropping by, we aim to encourage and inspire you to do something different out of your comfort zone, in new and exciting ways.

6 weeks to go til spring

We are in the depths of winter still here in Canberra - the birdbath is iced over every morning at the moment but there is hope for spring which is just around the corner.

The roses are starting to bud and I will be pruning them soon once the heaviest frosts are over. There are jonquils starting to flower and the double barred finches and the yellow rumped thornbills are now back starting to build nests.

I noticed yesterday it was also light when I got home - this is good and a vast improvement.....

I get into a funk over the winter .... low energy levels compounded with a large work stress has not helped this year.... but I seem to be coming out of that now.

I have also booked a 4 day weekend in Melbourne next weekend so it is off to that wonderful city (my home town) to shop and recuperate.

So this weekend after visiting the oldies I will tidy my craft room (promises promises I usually think creating is much more satisfying so I neglect to do this often..... now I have to tidy my desk which I haven't for a couple of weeks) and then do a couple of mixed media pieces.

Life is good and Spring is on it's way!

Have a great day

Card sets now on Etsy

After a lot of cutting, sewing and beading, packaging, photographing and loading.... if have now 4 card sets on Etsy....... There are a lot more to come but that is all I have time for today!!!

Here is what it says on Etsy:

Welcome to my world of watercolours. I just love the way watercolours light up as you paint with them so I am delighted to now bring you my new card range.

As I travel and work you can often see me deep in thought as I collect items to paint, nuts, shells, seeds, leaves and flowers. My trusty watercolour papers and pencils have travelled Australia and New Zealand with me over the past 10 years and I have no doubt that they will continue to be a constant travel companion for years to come.

These cards are sold in sets of 6 cards and 6 enveloped each card is separately placed in a cellophane crystal clear bag so that they remain clean and tidy. In each set there are 3 hand stamped cards and 3 cards with no stamping.

The cards are made from artist grade cardstock which I cut myself, and so I can offer lovely colours in my cards. You will see that the cardstock, beads and print of my watercolour card goes perfectly together.

Each card has a paper insert which is blank for you to write your own message. I love writing my own thoughts and wishes so I felt that you might want to do that too. The paper is held in place, not by glue but by a special tying technique from Japanese bookbinding. The ends of the cord are embellished with precious beads, little stones or crystals.

And the price $13.50 US ($15.35 AU) plus postage which I think is pretty reasonable (I hope everyone else does too)

On another note - thanks to all who commented on my shop on Etsy - I have reloaded the fridge magnets and they look great I think - I have lots more to load but I have no more time today - maybe I need an hour each day to load stuff on Etsy! LOL

Cheers

Goddess, Raindrops and Promise

Hi everyone

Yesterday I took some 8x10 inch canvas boards and set about creating three mixed media canvases based on Brian Andreas writing. I must say I am so pleased with them.

And I also have to say I love his writing - Brian Andreas - I am thinking there are a few more of these canvases to come - just because I enjoy then so much.

The gorgeous ladies are from http://thesumofallcrafts.blogspot.com/ which is a wonderful resource of images - free and available.

I have used on all canvases paint, paper, ink, impasto, stencils, buttons, photos, plus individual embellishments including wood, lace, string, punch outs, pearls, bling, flowers and cameo embellishments, gold paint and gold leaf......

I do hope you enjoy these:

Raindrops

Goddess

Promise

Please email me if you are interested in purchasing an original canvas..... $60 including postage (Australia) or plus postage everywhere else.............although 8x10 prints will be available on etsy soon for roughly $12 each plus postage.... now whether I will make cards of them who knows?

Thanks for looking - please let me know what you think

'Love has Wings' mixed media class LSBS

Hi everyone

I am very happy to be teaching at the LSBS Retreat in just 6 weeks time.... my class is a mixed media class where we will enjoy the wonders of paint, impasto, gold edging, stamping and lots of techniques. I am delighted to be on a teaching team which has so much awesome talent in the likes of Belle, Sherry and Kerryn!

Here are three sneak peaks for the class to whet your appetite ...... I love that these techniques can be on any size work and are just as gorgeous on layouts as they are on canvases

I am loving this mixed media journey and hopefully you will be joining me at LSBS

Hope to see you there - and of course after the class I will pop up a real full pic of the piece

Until then though .... keep happy

cards, cards, cards

Hi everyone ...

As you might know I am not really a card maker but over the weekend at the Scrap girls retreat I ended up making 60 or so cards which I am delighted with

I will show them in my next post as I haven't taken photos of them as yet.... I will be hopefully selling them on Etsy too....

They are of my original watercolour paintings (prints) and then onto a card and finished by a cute Japanese Bookbinding technique using cute beads..... so simple and so effective

The Scrap Girls retreat was really awesome. Wonderful girls, great company and fabulous activities and prizes...... loved it all. Thanks girls for making it so much fun.

The count down is on for the LSBS retreat in 6 weeks - I am sooooo looking forward to it too.
I have a great little mixed media class to teach at the LSBS retreat so I cannot wait to see the faces of the ladies as they do their thing.... what fun!

It is so cold outside and so lovely in my scrap room - I see some hibernation going on during the weekend and a heap of creativity.....

See you soon (with photos of cards on the weekend - promise)

Love
